prologueEvery child, when they come of age, finds a pendant on a chain. These pendants could be found anywhere and at any time of day or night. It’s almost as if they had just fallen out of the skies. Only, as ancient writings have shown, they do not. No one, save for the Elders, know where they come from. The average layman knows only that they don’t fall from the sky. The chain either silver or gold depending on whether it’s a boy or a girl: silver for girls and gold for boys. The pendant was usually a metal symbol that could only be interpreted by the Elders of the town or city. These pendants show what powers the wearer have. Of course wearing anprologue


garden stateAlina Clarke had always hated gym class. The stench of pugnacious sweat the pennies always held, having to change into unflattering gym wear, and having to play with boys. Alina disliked the school pennies not only because of the fact that they smelled like month old garbage, but they were always damp. This sickened her greatly; she also, trying not to sound too girly, thought that they didn’t go well with her already unattractive gym attire.garden state
This particular gym day way hazy, hot, and humid, the sun was beating down on Lacrosse. This version of Lacrosse, however, had been “dumbed down” a bit. N


She SpunThe girl spun around near the lake, her violet hair spinning with her. The rain was pouring down in sheets and buckets, and she was out in the midst of it all, twirling around in her weekend clothes. Her dark and light green striped hoodie was soaked through and so was her pink paisley skirt over her lyric-strewn jeans. She was barefoot and the grass kissed her feet. Her two piercings on both of her upper ears winked as she continued to spin. She seemed to like the rain. The sun began to peek out of the clouds and the downpour subsided to a medium drizzle. She stopped spinning and let the rain caress her face softly and gently. She grinned thShe Spun
